Helping build better and more healthy lives through hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy for children, teenagers and adults.

Q & A

You've got questions, we've got answers!

  • What problems can Hypnotherapy help with?

A very broad array of emotional, mental, and physical illnesses, discomfort, or unease.

From allergies to chronic pain, from anxiety to hyperactivity, from infertility to relationship difficulties, from phobias to addictions.

    The scope is WIDE.

  • Who can be treated?

Everyone! From little people as young as 3 years old to the senior crowd. The hypnosis techniques are adjusted to suit each individual and their needs.

  • What happens during a session?

It depends on the person's age. Little ones will be playing while being hypnotised through conversations and games, teenagers and adults will just sit down comfortably and close their eyes while listening to stories.

  • How does being hypnotised feel?

Clients usually report feeling very relaxed, well aware of their surroundings yet feeling a sense of light sleepiness.

And… you are already practicing without knowing it.

When absorbed in reading a book, you reach the bottom of the page, and realise that you have not retained anything from what you have read.... you were in a state of hypnosis.

Trance is a natural state that we all experience every 90 minutes or so every day.

  • Do I need to talk?

Only at the start to explain your concerns and required outcomes. After this, you can let go of everything else and relax.

  • What does the hypnotherapist talk about?

At HypnoRooms, I use a mixture of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and hypnosis tools. During the hypnosis stage, I tell you stories and tales that carry hidden messages that your unconscious understands. I use specific words, tones and syntax in relation to your problem so that your unconscious resets itself in a more positive way.

  • What happens to my mind during a session?

Your conscious mind gets distracted (I will use confusion techniques within the storytelling to make sure your critical mind occupies itself) while your unconscious mind is being redirected to shift problematic patterns to healthier ones.

  • Does it work?

There is now substantial research evidence on hypnotherapy to prove that it can be incredibly beneficial for all sorts of issues. Hypnotherapy is now used in hospitals around the world to carry out interventions on patients who would normally require anaesthetics.

  • I am sceptical, will this be a problem?

If you have never tried hypnotherapy before, it is normal to have doubts about its effectiveness. A little bit of scepticism is good and natural however you must want to get better or improve the area of your life that is causing you problems for the session to have the best results.

  • Will I be receptive to Hypnosis?

There are several kinds of hypnosis. Directive hypnosis, the one used in shows, only works on 20% of the population. The Sajece method I use, derived from the Eriksonian method, which is permissive and therapeutic and where nothing is imposed, works with everyone without exception, on the basis that you want to get better.

  • Can I change a behaviour without knowing what caused it?

Unlike the psychoanalytic approach, hypnotherapy does not look for WHY one feels bad, but rather HOW to get better. Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) make it possible to solve problems without necessarily having to systematically dig into one's past.

  • I fear having to revisit a childhood trauma, is this for me?

Hypnotherapy revisits the past in a non-obvious way for the individual and clears up the emotions attached to the traumatic event, so that problematic behaviours disappear. The session does not focus on the origin of the problem (whether real or interpreted) but rather on the emotions linked to the event.

The reality is that it doesn't even matter whether you know the origin of the problem or not. It focusses on new solutions (emotional, perceptions, sensations).

  • How long will a session last and what is the frequency of subsequent sessions?

A session lasts between 45 minutes to an hour for adults and teenagers, 30 to 45 minutes for a child.

Usually, one session of Sajece Hypnotherapy is enough to get positive results.

The benefits of a hypnotherapy session take up to 3 weeks to fully deploy.

Should you wish to come back, I would recommend waiting a month in between each session but I have often seen that one session is enough to help with shifting problematic patterns or unease.

  • Can you be hypnotized to do things you don’t want to do?

Hypnotherapy only helps you enhance positive thinking patterns that are in your best interest. I never tell you what to do or what to think, I am here to open a door that leads to your personal resources.

In addition, your morals and standards of behaviour never leave, so you'll always be fully in control.

So the shorter answer is no!

  • How will I feel at the end of a session?

Have you ever had a massage? Remember that lovely, relaxed state at the end?

A hypnotherapy session will make you feel the same way. It’s like a massage… for the mind.

  • Are there any side effects?

Only positive ones! You may start feeling these immediately after your appointment or more progressively over the weeks following your session.

People generally report a sensation of intense relaxation, lower anxiety levels, and generally feeling more empowered to make decisions that are in their best interests.

  • Can Hypnotherapy help with matters that may not be considered a problem? E.g. Performing better in sports competitions, driving tests, my GCSEs, etc.

Any sports, artistic, academic competition, performance, or exam results can be improved by a session of hypnotherapy. It can increase your confidence, generally boost your energy levels and your focus, enabling you to reach higher levels of performance.

A mixture of powerful visualisations, subtle empowering messages and key anchorage messages will help you in the run-up and when you need it most to help you achieve your best.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Hypnotherapy is considered a brief therapy. 1, 2 or 3 sessions are often sufficient to see positive results. I normally recommend that we leave 3 weeks in between each session as this is roughly the time it takes for new positive habits and/or changes to be formed and be felt.
